Pc health app windows 108/31/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() This is contradictory because Windows 11 was running just fine on the PC. However, at the same time, folks at The Verge claimed the PC Health Check app suggested one of the gaming PCs with a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 processor is not compatible with Windows 11. A lot of processors from Intel and AMD are not supported, so it is understandable if the PC Health Check app calls your PC incompatible. The most important thing here is the processor, which strictly needs to be in Microsoft’s list of compatible processors. This includes checking various aspects of the computer, such as the processor type, TDM security standard, minimum RAM and storage requirement, among others. But for more serious problems, like a processor that isn't on one of Microsoft's compatibility lists, your only options are to upgrade to a supported processor (not always an option but possible for some AMD Ryzen desktops in particular), replace the computer, continue running Windows 10, or run an "unsupported" Windows 11 install that may or may not receive updates going forward. The purpose of the PC Health Check app is to let users know if their PC will support Windows 11 or not. The new version of the Health Check app makes recommendations if your PC has easily fixable compatibility problems, like if there's a firmware TPM module that simply isn't enabled, if Secure Boot is turned off, or if you need a RAM or disk space upgrade. In our testing, it's still pretty bad at guessing the approximate age of the PC that it's running on, but it at least presents more detailed information when it's telling you that you won't be able to upgrade to a new OS. ![]() Further Reading Why Windows 11 has such strict hardware requirements, according to MicrosoftĪ new version of the PC Health Check app, now available via this official Microsoft link to people without Windows Insider accounts, fixes that problem. ![]()
